Come join us for a sneak peek at local artist Ethan Estess’ new whale sculpture titled “Urban Ocean” before it migrates to its forever home in Southern California!

Ethan has been planning and designing “Urban Ocean” for over three years and has been fabricating it with the help of Eric and the team at Central Coast Welding & Fabrication for the last year. Made entirely of tightly wound stainless steel cable, this sculpture has been Estess’ greatest technical and artistic challenge to-date.

“Urban Oceans" mission is to promote responsible shipping practices that prevent whales from being killed by large container ships. Greater public awareness of this issue is needed to support policies that ensure the health of whale populations along our coast.
